Fengyan Tang, PhD, is a Professor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. Dr. Tang examines the care recipient – caregiver relationship, as well as the differences between caregivers. Specifically, she examines adult children as caregivers to their parents (or parents-in-law), with emphasis on gender differences in employment and financial well-being. Dr. Tang also looks at older adults as caregivers for their grandchildren.
Fengyan researches racial and ethnic differences in caregiving amongst African and Asian Americans, as well as aging experiences among immigrants. She also looks at how the care recipients perception of their needs impacts their mental health and use of social support.
