Justin Yu

Biography

Justin Yu, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. He is a physician researcher who is board-certified in Pediatrcs, Internal Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.  Clinically, he is a member of the Supportive Care Team at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and provides palliative and hospice care to seriously-ill children and their families. His research focuses on improving the health and well-being of children with medical complexity (CMC) and their family caregivers. Currently, he is conducting several studies to describe 1) the emotional well-being of family caregivers of CMC, and 2) the impact of caring for CMC on caregiver outcomes (e.g., employment, family functioning). Looking to the future, Dr. Yu plans to develop, refine, and test a behavioral intervention specifically designed for caregivers of CMC.
