Jacob N. Hunnicutt, PhD, MPH (2018-2019)

Biography

Jake Hunnicutt was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing at the University of Pittsburgh Health Policy Institute from 2018 to 2019. He earned his PhD in Clinical and Population Health Research from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His areas of expertise include epidemiologic analyses of medication use and safety in older adults and the application of advanced pharmacoepidemiologic methods to reduce bias in observational studies. His dissertation, under the mentorship of Dr. Kate Lapane, focused on opioid use and safety in nursing homes and and its broader role in pain management in this care setting. Dr. Hunnicutt has experience using administrative and claims data to conduct health outcomes research and evaluate interventions at both the state and national levels.
