Marian Jarlenski, PhD, MPH

Biography

Dr. Jarlenski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Using policy analysis and econometric methods, her work aims to evaluate state and federal health policies, as well as to inform the policy-making process. She is particularly interested in women’s health, Medicaid policy, and reducing modifiable health behavior risks (i.e., tobacco use and obesity). Her dissertation research, which focused on the role of policy in promoting women’s health during pregnancy and postpartum, was supported by an individual pre-doctoral fellowship (F31) from the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Going forward, she plans to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations to conduct innovative research that informs and effects policy change.
