Howard B. Degenholtz, PhD

Biography

Dr. Degenholtz’s primary research interests include long-term care and aging; bioethics; and organ donation.

Dr. Degenholtz is Associate Professor of Health Policy & Management, Associate Director of Research, Center for Bioethics and Health Law, and Director of the Doctoral Program in Health Services Research and Policy. Dr. Degenholtz is a health services researcher who focuses on long-term care and aging. He has recently directed two major studies supported by the Commonwealth Fund: Improving Quality of Life in Nursing Homes and Availability and Use of Health Information Technology in Nursing Homes. He is the Principal Investigator of two Federally funded projects to increase organ donation. Dr. Degenholtz teaches Research Methods to Doctoral Students.

He is a member of the Academy for Health Services Research and the Gerontological Society of America.
